Abstract

Epigenetic markers are molecular modifications that affect gene expression without altering the DNA sequence. They are influenced b y genetic and environmental factors and play crucial roles in animal health and productivity. Epigenetic processes include DNA methylation, histone modification, and chromatin remodeling. This review supports the recent discoveries on the impacts of epigen etic processes on livestock production and health traits, such as growth, development, disease resistance, and stress response. It also discusses the potential applications of epigenetic biomarkers in livestock management and improvement, as well as the ch allenges and gaps in livestock epigenetics research.
