A Multiplex PCR Assay for Identification of Major Mastitis Causing Pathogens in Buffalo’s Raw Milk and Evaluation of Their Sensitivity
Abstract
Mastitis is a prevalent issue in dairy herds, particularly among buffaloes, leading to significant economic losses. This study developed a sensitive, specific, and cost-effective multiplex PCR assay for the identification of major pathogens responsible for mastitis in raw buffalo milk. A total of 200 milk samples were collected from various areas of District Multan and tested for the presence of pathogens. Additionally, the antibiotic susceptibility of drug-resistant bacteria was evaluated. The multiplex PCR assay demonstrated 100% specificity and high sensitivity (0.01ng/ul detection limit), identifying multiple pathogens simultaneously.Downloads
